This and the following lot are two from a series of portraits of the King family carried out by De Coning in 1720. The portrait of their father Peter King, 1st Baron King of Ockham, is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. The sitter, second son of the 1st Baron, was later 3rd Baron King.
