Note:
Joseph Towne was a celebrated anatomical modeller and sculptor. He is best known for the creation of wax moulages, many of which still survive today and are on display in the Guy's Hospital medical school museum. In 1825 Towne was taken on to the staff of Guy's Hospital and when he was not making wax moulages, he also produced marble busts of members of staff and others.
