Note:
It was for his bas-relief work that Frampton initially found recognition and the composition of this work pays tribute to 15th-century portraiture. He had an ability to create forms conveying a sense of depth that were actually very shallow. St Christina is portrayed as a mystical figure combining occult-like spirituality with earlier secular portraiture.
