Footnote
The Poona Boat club now known as the Royal Connaught Boat club can be found on Boat Club Road in what was known as Poona, now known simply as Pune. It was founded in 1868 ten years before this cup was presented and shows the deep connection with other boat clubs in India.
After merging with the Royal Artillery Boat Club and the Kirkee Boat Club, in 1889, the club renamed itself ‘Poona Royal Connaught Boat Club’ to honour the Duke of Connaught, the then Commander-in-Chief of the Bombay Army.
