Mann's daughter Cathleen was born in Newcastle in 1896. She was taught by her father, his friend the artist Ethel Walker and trained at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Cathleen became an established artist in her own right and was elected to the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Following her 1926 marriage to Francis Archibald Kelhead Douglas, the eleventh Marquess of Queesberry, she became unwillingly known as the 'Painting Peeress' (see ed. Alice Strang, Modern Scottish Women: Painters and Sculptors 1885-1965, National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, 2015, exh. cat., p. 76).
