Six page autograph manuscript discussing the case for and against emigration to New South Wales for the labourer and gentleman: "the inducements of high wages, if... a fine climate, plenty of food and clothing, and if married great opportunities... to the gentleman Australia offers English Society as good as most country towns at home, protection.. high interest for his money... servants of every description", referring to the new Squatting Act (1831) and opportunities as "a Police magistrate, the police or Iron gangs... young men who have been clerks in England can almost always obtain similar situations in the various public offices", 4to, paper watermarked 1834
