Note:
Margaret O'Rorke trained as a painter at the Chelsea School of Art, before taking up pottery at Camberwell from 1954 to 1958. She worked as a technical assistant and part-time teacher at Chichester and Portsmouth, before setting up her own studio in 1980. She also spent three months working at Ryoji Koie's studio in Japan in 1992. Since then she has exhibited widely and participated in numerous residencies, including at the International Ceramic Research Centre in Denmark in 2007 and the Jingdezhen Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in China in 2007 and 2008.
O'Rorke wrote 'the translucency of fine high fired porcelain has led me as an artist to throw forms which give light. Ideas stem from the nature of the material, forms which can grow the potter's wheel, the process of firing and a sense of adventure with light and space'.
