Provenance
Consigned by the original owner, who was gifted the watch while in Zurich by his parents for his 20th birthday in 1968. It has remained in his possession ever since while being worn and enjoyed with regular servicing, however, importantly, he wisely chose not to replace any principle parts that would alter the appearance. By doing so, the watch offers a rare naturally faded dial and bezel providing an evenly aged, authentic, vintage look while retaining strong definition to the faceted case.
Footnote
Previously known as the ‘Vogue Chronograph' and signed Jaeger LeCoultre, with the US Version signed only LeCoultre on the dial and known as the ‘Deep Sea Shark.’ Today, Jaeger LeCoultre's heritage department list this model simply as the ‘Shark Deep Sea'. The model only appears to have been available for a relatively short period in the late 1960's, with the majority of the small number that have been offered publicly, falling within a relatively close serial number range, furthermore, very few examples known were signed Jaeger LeCoultre. Created in a well-proportioned 40mm case, with iconic panda dial, this lot offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a rare 1960's functional watch with obvious vintage appeal.
