Orlando Orlandini was brought up with a long family connection with the arts. His parents being sculptor and painter with a strong track record of being in a number of important museums. He initially studied sculpture but then moved to jewellery with a sculptural angle. 1983 saw the purchase of a 14th century convent for his family home and atelier. Inspiration comes from fine work with the materials, woven, spun and joined to form panels of links similar to chain mail but with a more decorative than protective function. The work involved in crafting these pieces means that they can be imposing to view but lightweight for the wearer.
