Sale number: 12345We were delighted to present our inaugural auction of <a href="/departments/islamic-indian-art" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Islamic &amp; Indian Art</a> featuring Indian Paintings from the Collection of William &amp; Mildred Archer, led by Kristina Sanne on 12 June 2024.&nbsp; &nbsp;The sale was very well received and achieved a total of £950,000 (inclusive of premium).&nbsp; The auction included Indian Popular Paintings (Lots 84-109), some superb examples of paintings attributed to the Punjab Hills (Lots 121-131) and an exceptionally rare <a href="/auctions/islamic-and-indian-art-12345/lot/139" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">European and Chinese-inspired painting attributed to Surat, circa 1740</a> (Lot 139). Further highlights from other properties include an <a href="/auctions/islamic-and-indian-art-12345/lot/64" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">over life-size Gandharan grey schist Buddha Head</a> (Lot 64) formerly in the collection of Virginia Patton Moss (1925-2022), a monumental Safavid blue and <a href="/auctions/islamic-and-indian-art-12345/lot/37" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">white pottery dish</a> (Lot 37) that once formed the collection of the celebrated Islamic art academic, Arthur Lane (1909-1963), a selection of Iznik ceramics (Lots 38-41), and a rare and <a href="/auctions/islamic-and-indian-art-12345/lot/73" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">newly discovered Mughal repoussé silver flower flask or guldan</a> (Lot 73).&nbsp;Buyers Guide
