the hood with a carved architectural pediment above an arched door flanked by barley twist columns, enclosing a 13 inch silvered brass breakarch dial with Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers, subsidiary seconds and date dials, the arch with ‘Strike/Silent’ dial signed ‘Dan'Brown, Glasgow, with pierced gilt brass spandrels, the trunk with a rectangular moulded door flanked by Corinthian twist quarter columns, on a square plinth base on bun feet, the twin-train movement with anchor escapement, striking a bell
