of oval form, painted to the centre with a historical battle scene depicting the death of Gaston de Foix on 11th April 1512, signed D. Dithou, on a dark blue ground, the rim with six portrait panels spaced with gilt diaper and jewelled fleur-de-lys decoration, with further jewelled decoration to the border of the battle scene; marked to the reverse with interlaced LL and C mark, fleur-de-lys, with titled inscriptions in blue
