Haddon Esq., replying to Haddon's letter complaining that his daughter is to be refused entry into Bedford College, on the grounds of her being unvaccinated (presumably for smallpox), Bernard Shaw replies: “Dear Sir, Scarifying letters are no use (I never write them); and I have no grievance. The correct course for you, as far as I know, is to demand exemption for your daughter as a conscientious objector, and on modern scientific grounds…”, dated 29th October 1946, signed G.
