Note:
An exquisite and complete example of a classic Fulani design from the Inner Niger Delta in Mali. This cloth forms an essential part of a bride’s trousseau and is intended for use as a tent-divider or marriage-bed curtain. Typically, the bride’s female family-members spin and dye the thread. A male weaver from the ‘Maabo’ clan is then commissioned to weave the strips and sew them together, a process which can take several months.
