Note:
One of the earliest Neolithic cultures in Europe, the Vinča of modern day Serbia flourished between 5700 – 4500 B.C. The Vinča site of Pločnik has produced the earliest example of copper tools in the world but the culture is best known for its terracotta pottery and figurines, many of which show a high level of technical proficiency.
